Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Review

Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Neo Review-

Here we differentiate between the analog instant camera and the digital instant camera. With the Instax Mini 8 and Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic, Fujifilm has launched absolute bestsellers. They are very popular and are a very good deal in terms of price-performance.

For a long time the digital cameras were in limelight, but then the startup “The Impossible” gave revival to instant cameras. With the purchase of the abandoned Polaroid plants, the company bought popular Polaroid cameras back in the market. Until then, there were simply no suitable films to buy.

That and the ever-increasing trend towards digital cameras made analog instant photography disappear for the time being. The films are now being produced in large numbers and manufacturers such as Fujifilm and Polaroid are leading the market.

Polaroid has the edge in digital instant cameras. Among other things, the manufacturer offers the Polaroid Z2300, the Polaroid Snap and the Polaroid Snap Touch. The Snap models, in particular, are up to date and offer entertaining moments at parties and weddings.

Attention creative’s, the Instax Mini 90 Neo has some special features for you.

What does the Instax Mini 90 Neo offer?

Fujifilm has equipped the Instax Mini 90 Neo with a 60-millimeter lens. Besides, the instant camera has a macro mode with an f22 aperture, which can be used in a range of approx. 30 to 60 cm.

Fujifilm itself specifies an optimal distance of 40 to 60 cm. There is a bit of experimentation here to find the right distance for you. The camera was able to score with acceptable photos in macro mode. Other modes are the party mode, children’s mode, landscape mode, double exposure, and long exposure.

The different modes can be selected by turning the lens. This results in extremely simple use. A very well thought out and efficient concept according to me.

Party mode

If you want to take pictures at parties (in darker rooms), the party mode of the Instax Mini 90 is ideal. The flash intensity adapts to the lighting conditions in the room.

This means that there are no photos with a black background, but the background is brightened and underlines the motif in the foreground.

Children’s mode

The children’s mode was created by Fujifilm especially for fast-moving subjects (children, animals, etc.).

The reduced shutter speed significantly reduces blurring compared to normal mode.

Landscape mode

It is advisable to activate the landscape mode of the instant camera when taking pictures where the distance between the camera and the subject exceeds three meters.

As a result, the outlines are shown sharper and result in better image quality.

Double exposure

Here the Instax Mini 90 offers a great feature. With the double exposure, you can put two pictures on top of each other.

This can result in very creative and artistic effects.

Long exposure

Fujifilm has also given the Instax Mini 90 a long exposure. The shutter stays open in long exposure mode as long as the shutter button is pressed.

This makes very interesting effect shots possible with which you are guaranteed to stand out.

Handling the Fujifilm Instax Mini 90 Polaroid instant camera

Without a lithium-ion battery, the camera weighs 10.4 ounces and is therefore somewhat heavier than other instant cameras in this price segment.

Nevertheless, the Instax Mini 90 with its 3.61 x 2.25 x 4.50 inches lies comfortably in the hand and is in the usual range of dimensions for an instant camera.

The film cartridges are very easy to change and contain ten pictures per pack. The supplied instructions for use with pictures leave little scope for errors during use.

Extensions and accessories

Fujifilm and third-party manufacturers offer several accessories and extensions for the Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic.

Bags, straps, color filters, and many other interesting gadgets are available online.

You can check some of them below.

Additional cost with Fujifilm Instax Mini 90

Film costs are the biggest drawback of instant cameras.

The average price of an instant photo in color comes to about 80 cents, for monochrome films even to 1.09 Dollars. For this, you get the opportunity to shoot in retro style.

Development of instant pictures

After the shutter release button is pressed, Fujifilm recommends placing the instant image on the table with the motif facing down and ideally also covering it with an object.

This prevents subsequent exposure and the pictures can develop their full quality.

The typical shaking known from the past is also a thing of the past. This only swirls the color crystals on the photo paper and affects the image quality.

After almost five minutes, the instant picture is ready and you can view your artwork.

Did you know that Fujifilm achieved a large part of its 2015 profit with their Instax instant camera product line?
An analog technology from the 1970s. It quickly becomes clear that love lies in the detail of the execution and not in the unlimited growth of megapixels.

Easy operation

Good picture quality

Macro mode

Fascinating picture modes

Integrated flash

Smaller than Polaroid cameras

Good value for money

Relatively small picture format

No display

With the Instax Mini 90, Fujifilm has created a top-quality instant camera at affordable price. The many features, especially the double and long exposure make this instant camera one of the cameras for photo enthusiasts and creative people.

The slightly higher price compared to a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 is justified and is clear in the image quality.

We would only like a display like the Polaroid Snap Touch, then this model would be almost perfect.

The camera body itself is made of plastic, but the leather texture enhances the camera significantly and leaves a solid impression.

The well-thought-out design of the Instax Mini 90 Neo Classic completely convinced us.

Therefore, there is a clear buy recommendation on our part.
